Tiger: One of the cool things Bobby's teacher does is make each child a superstar for one week. It starts on a Friday afternoon when that week's super star selects a name from the jar. The selected child gets to wear a big sticker staying they are the superstar. Plus they bring home a moose for their superstar reign. Bobby choose to bring Max home for his time as super star.
Bobby was so excited and filled with pride to be the superstar. He brought Max everywhere and cared for him as if the moose truly was alive.
When we went for our weekend exploring adventure, Max was placed in a special "car seat" for safety.
*** This picture was taken while the vehicle was parked. All children and moose were properly restrained when vehicle was in motion ...
Trixie: I have to say I'm impressed you googled the plural form of moose.
Tiger: I'm ignoring you, Trixie. Anyhoo the selected adventure was to drive and explore Lariat Loop, www.lariatloop.org . We've explored parts of this path, but never the full loop. It's a lot of driving and looking at cool things with a few stops to explore. One of the most important lessons we've learned while exploring Colorado with its many changes in altitude is to stay super hydrated! No one likes headaches, dizzy spells, stomach cramps, and other symptoms of altitude sickness. Bobby made sure Max drank his fluids too!
Our first actual stop on the drive was Evergreen Lake. It was really pretty! Bobby and Max were so excited to explore instead of observing in the car.
Mommy took tons of pictures as always, but we really can only post a few. We explored part of the way around the lake. There were wooden bridges and pathways above the water, as well as mini islands between these bridge pathways. We didn't explore the whole lake because we had one more big exploring destination to save our energy for.
After a quick pitstop in Morrison for food, we were ready to see Red Rocks Amphitheater and music museum.
There was so much cool stuff to see. If you like music this is a great place to check out! We learned a lot about the areas history including that the first "concert" held there was in 1906. The venue that currently exists wasn't actually created until 1940 and held its first official concert in 1941.
Max and Bobby had a lot of fun exploring the music museum, but their favorite part was going on the stage where all of these famous musicians have played.
Unfortunately once we were done on stage we had to go back up the stairs to get to our car.
This ascent is so crazy that there are fitness boot camps held here and signs like this one:
One of the good things about doing adventures on Saturday is there is a whole extra day to rest and/or work on projects. Mommy helped Bobby complete his "Superstar" project. On Monday Bobby was able to bring it into school. The class super star gets to talk about each item on the star before it goes on display for the remainder of the week.
When Friday afternoon comes, the current superstar is given a special book that each of their classmates helps to write. Then the cycle repeats with the drawing of a new superstar! Pretty cool, huh?
