The Challenge

On February 25, 2015 Rosita James aka Auntie Rosie aka Momma passed away. Tony was so very close to her. Closer than he was to any other female in his family while he was growing up. She requested that he be a pallbearer at her funeral in her last will and testament. Funeral services were postponed until March 7, 2015 so all of the out of towners, including us, could make it.

Luckily Bobby had a 4 day weekend that weekend, so he missed less time than we originally expected. As part of his absent work, Bobby was to write about our trip, a trip journal, story, adventure log, whatever you want to call it. Our dilemma as parents came once we were there, we truly wanted Bobby to do this writing assignment. However we also wanted him to be able to spend time with family. Bobby hates, I mean HATES, writing. He thinks it's stupid because he can just tell someone whatever it is he is supposed to write about. Logical yet not helpful. We told Bobby that he could take notes about the things he was going to write about and then write it later as long as he did his other schoolwork and read once a day.

Fast forward to our return and we are all butting heads over this project. Bobby chose to write one sentence per page for a few of them, but most of the pages said "I was sleeping. I didn't see anything. Snore." Can you see why we've been arguing all day? In a last ditch effort at sanity I proposed a challenge. Bobby rewrites his book with more details (a problem that is mentioned on his report card) and I will write a version as well.  Once Bobby's story is finished I will type it onto the blog and add his pictures. Wish me luck, pray for me, I'm not picky at this point ;-)
