Health Update

For anyone who has been out of the loop I have been sick. Mommy took me to the vets because she thought I had a UTI (urinary tract infection) and it turns out that something else is going on. It has been undetermined if any my current health issues are a direct result of the big food recall. Preliminary testing shows that I have the signs of early kidney failure so the vet asked mommy to withhold water from me for 12 hours and then bring me in for more testing. Mommy did try and I am happy she decided to follow her gut on this one. I was very unhappy with this and I had to be kept out of the kitchen, bathroom, and any other source of water. Mommy held out a little over 4.5 hours then gave me some water. I became very lethargic and laid on the ground whining constantly. I would not sleep and I could not be consoled. I drank 1.5 big bowls of water then went to sleep. Mommy and the vet have had a long talk and agree that it will be best for me to stay at the vet office and be watched while I am being deprived of water. It looks like mommy will take me tonight and I will hopefully be home tomorrow morning if everything goes well. Please keep mommy, daddy, and I in your thoughts for the next few days because this is very scary for all of us.
