Daddy's Birthday

Bobby: My daddy turned 30 on Sunday. He insisted mommy not make a big deal out of this milestone. That bummed mommy & I out, but we found other ways to make this an extra special birthday.

Neither of my parents are very good at holding onto presents until the actual time to give them. This was the case for daddy's birthday. It's all good though. It is kinda cool that my parents get so excited to see the each others response to the presents that they have a hard time waiting. Anyhoo the point is that we didn't actually have presents for daddy to open on his birthday because mommy was too excited to wait. This greatly limited our options on daddy's actual birthday to make it special, but we came up with something.

Mommy made daddy's birthday cake this year instead of buying one & she made everything from scratch. Yup no box mix this year & we came up with a special cake that was just as special as our daddy. It was a s'mores cake... yellow layer cake with a marshmallow cream center surrounded by chocolate fudge icing. It turned out to be amazing especially since it was her first attempt to make an entire cake from scratch! Although mommy thought it was a little too sweet. I believe her exact comment was "I think I'm going into a diabetic coma from eating 1 piece". Daddy thought the cake was great & he felt very special. Mission accomplished :-)
