Wii Fit Update

Sparky: Well we have certainly had some interesting times as a result of our last post. First I would like to address a certain comment about how it is wrong to blog about a child's obesity. I think whoever this mysterious stranger is took things a very wrong way. Our previous post was in no way meant to belittle this child & that is not how she is being treated. Her real mother is not being criticized in any way. Her mother is an amazing person that has raised a child for 5 years as a single parent & deserves a great deal of respect for that fact alone. Both of the families that this child comes from have issues with obesity & I don't see anything wrong with trying to break the cycle. I wish someone had stopped my mommy & said eating a bag of cookies when you are sad won't make things better. Just a simple caring intervention asking someone to put down the box of fried chicken & step away from the ice cream becausethere are other ways to deal with a bad day. Yes, stranger from the internet that creates bogus profiles, our mommy has a little bit of a weight issue as well. Thanks for pointing that out. It makes it so apparent that you do not know anyone involved in the reality of this family.

Moving on. So far in Rayne's short stay in MD we have taught her the joys of jump rope, hopscotch, & hula hooping. We love the idea of doing a family garden. That sounds like a great way to have some family bonding while developing healthy habits. Even with the storms that have been going on out this way we have made an effort to do something fun & physical every day. Some days that may mean changing the schedule around to get some outdoor fun during the sporatic sunshine or it may involve a hopscotch competition in garage. Rayne is also doing a minimum of 30 minutes on the wii fit just like our mommy does every day. Our mommy is trying very hard to show Robert the importance of a healthy & active lifestyle. We are honored to have Rayne here to undergo the challenge with us.

On the family front my parents decided it would be fun to have a biggest loser competition in our house for the summer. No we haven't told Rayne about this because we don't want her to be pressured. Since mommy & Rayne are using the wii fit which calculates weight, BMI, & fit age daddy has decided he will use the wii fit to keep his stats as well. This will be how we see who really is the biggest loser in our family... can you tell we watch lots of tv. It has added extra inspiration for my parents to continue working hard in the warmer months. They had slacked off some before the move. We will keep everyone posted about the progress throughout the summer!

Wii Fit stats are as of 6/9/09:
Daddy- 164 lbs 25 BMI Wii Fit Age 30
Mommy- 162 lbs 30 BMI Wii Fit Age 27
Rayne- 93 lbs 26 BMI Wii Fit Age 6 (a major improvement that she is super proud of!)
