Scary Night & Day

Tiger: Every one in my house is a little sleep deprived today. We had a very scary time in the wee hours of the day. Robert woke up screaming bloody murder in the middle of the night. Mommy rushed in to find him burning up & throwing up foam. After a quick temperature check (102.4 under the arm) my parents whisked him off to the ER. By the time they got there he was having some breathing difficulties & had a rectal temp of 104.1. Needless to say every one at WRAMC ER rushed around to stabilize our little guy as fast as possible. After getting stuck numerous times for blood work, getting an IV, a catheter, & chest x-rays Robert was not a happy camper. The doctors went back & forth about admitting Robert for observation, but in the end released him to go home. We spent 10 hours at the ER & found out that Robert has Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV for short). It is very contagious & effects children under 2 & the elderly the most. My parents were instructed to keep Robert away from everyone until his pediatrician releases him on Wednesday. My parents were also instructed to bring our little man back if his fever doesn't break in the next 24 hours or he has any further breathing distress. So far he is still running a fever (he was discharged with 100.8) & has been sleeping a lot. Robert is also getting the infamous Tylenol & Motrin doses at certain time intervals. Mommy has spent the evening updating everyone & notifying all of Robert's playmates of his illness in case anyone else starts to show symptoms. Our little buddy will be getting lots of TLC this weekend in hopes that he feels better soon.

Oh my goodness - I'm just getting caught up on all the events. Glad to hear that Robert is doing better. How frightening!
