Playing Catch Up

Tiger: I know we are behind with our posts, but we have a good reason. Mommy's MS episode took a turn for the worst & she was put on bed rest last Friday. The doctors were concerned about the fact that mommy had several falls last week & was losing the use of her left leg. Mommy wasn't very happy with the doctors decision but it was better than going back into the hospital. Sparky, Robert & I were very excited to have mommy home to snuggle with. The doctor also talked to mommy about the progression of her symptoms & steps that need to be taken in the future. Alas none of these things were things mommy's pride wanted to hear. She will need to start going to physical therapy to learn how to walk with some sort of assistive tech device (cane, walker, etc.). He also talked to mommy about her job. These kinds of talks are especially hard for mommy to hear because she loves what she does. The reality of this disease is that mommy will not be able to stay working as a massage therapist indefinitely. The doctor wants mommy to start drastically cutting her hours to make things easier on her body. Of course mommy made sure to point out to the doctor that money doesn't grow on trees & our family will be taking a big financial blow as a result of his suggestion. Mommy & her doctor have come up with a stair step approach to her cutting back her hours. Mommy was forced to agree that she would have to go with the original plan if her symptoms continue to become more severe.

While we have the bad news ball rolling daddy was told by his superiors this morning that he is leaving for Iraq next week. Thankfully this should be a short deployment (approx 4 weeks) & he should be home for Thanksgiving. Daddy is very concerned about leaving mommy with her health being iffy, but all of our wonderful friends & family have agreed to help in any way they can. This will be one of those times that we will be taking everyone up on their offers. Mommy & daddy have come to the conclusion that this is a good way to get Robert & I used to the military life. Sparky has already been through a deployment or 2 so he knows how it goes. Actually that is how this blog came to exist since it was an easy way for mommy to update daddy on things. The universe has been kind to our family & it has been a while since daddy actually had to go back to the big sandbox. We will keep daddy in our prayers & anxiously await his safe return. We will keep every one posted

Ugh - so sorry to hear both pieces of news. Glad this is a short deployment. Let me know if I can help in any way.
