The Devil Isn't The Only 1 That Went to GA

Robert: Sunday came faster than any of us expected. Mommy went into work very briefly in the morning then came home to finish the last few things on the road trip list. Before you could blink it was time to get in the car & head out for the family dinner. We went to mommy's favorite place & everyone was able to kick back & have a good time. Once dinner was over it was time to bring Rayne & Aunt Lisa back to our house. Aunt Lisa was kind enough to take care of Tiger during our road trip so we didn't have to put him in a kennel. My parents made Rayne & I stay up until it was time to get into the car & head on our long journey.

Once the car was packed, kids loaded in the car, final dog sitter instructions reviewed, & everyone said their goodbyes it was after 11 pm. Mommy took the first driving shift & we were officially on our way south. My parents plan did work some what. Rayne & I were passed out within 15 minutes of driving. What my parents didn't count on is my mover & shaker sleep pattern. Every time I tried to roll around in my sleep I was awakened to find I was restrained & in our car. It freaked me out so I wailed my lil heart out every time. My parents had to pull over each time to comfort me & get me back to sleep. After hitting construction traffic, soothing my wails, switching drivers & crossing the VA/NC border 6 hrs after our departure my parents decided it would be best to stop at a hotel for a few hours to recharge. I was so tired that I just crawled to a corner & tried to pass out. I didn't care about beds, pillows or blankets. I cared that I was finally unrestrained & exhausted.

After 4 very short hours it was time for food then back into the car. As we were continuing we got an awesome phone call that will be referenced in the next post. The good news refreshed our spirits & made the next 12 hours more bearable. Yes, I know that puts our total travel time to 18 hrs but traveling with kids is not an easy trip. I already mentioned my constant fits about my sleeping arrangements. Well that was just the icing on the cake. Rayne & I periodically bickered, Rayne constantly whined about how much longer were we going to still be in NC, no pit stop was under 30 minutes, & we had to make a stop for supplies that were forgotten.

When we finally rolled into Rayne's neighborhood it was close to midnight. We both had just passed out 30 minutes prior to arrival. Rayne's mommy woke her to bring her inside & I was awakened by the commotion. I cried my lungs out begging Rayne not to leave me. I guess I didn't fully understand why we were going on a road trip, but I was very sad that she was leaving me. Mommy took me inside the house so I could say goodbye while daddy & Ms. Sydnae finished unloading the car. Rayne wouldn't say goodbye to me or my parents. It was rather upsetting, but I guess she was as sad as I was about our separation.

After we left Rayne's house it was off to a hotel a few miles down the road for some much over due sleep. We hit the pillows around 1:30 am & were back on the road around 11:30 am Tuesday. My parents drove all day with periodic stops. They toyed with the idea of a 3rd hotel then agreed to drive as long they could & see how far we got before making a decision. Around midnight we were close the NC/VA border again. I was passed out in the back & daddy was ready for another cat nap. Mommy was wearing down when she saw the sign for road construction delays. My parents decided to take a break at the rest stop & snooze for a little bit. We stopped for about an hour then daddy took over driving. My parents switched out 1 more time before we arrived at our house at 4:47am. We all hobbled inside to greet Tiger & Aunt Lisa. Mommy told my aunt to keep the big bed since I was so excited to be home that I was running all over the place. A little bit later we were all crashed out in the living room not caring where we slept only that it was under our roof.
