Is That a Rash?

Sparky: In the business of TMI (too much info) we are here with another story. On Wed morning my little brother, Robert, had some stomach troubles & very messy diapers. By early afternoon a horrible rash had set in. By the time daddy got home Bobby was not a happy camper. He was screaming bloody murder every time he went potty in his diaper & his rash had majorly spread. Our parents tried desperately to think of anything that may have brought this rash on but they were stumped. All of the usual suspects did not apply. A very exasperated mommy consulted with all of her usual sources & was informed to try a variety of remedies. Daddy also did some research & had a list of things to try.

Our evening became filled with experiments to see if anything would sooth Robert's raw bottom. Every possible cream just made him scream, cry & tug at his diaper. Mommy then scrubbed out the kitchen sink & started an oatmeal sitz bath for Bobby. He really liked this... well sort of. It seemed to make his bottom not hurt so much but he was a little distraught about being in the kitchen sink while daddy took pictures. After the sink bath my parents let him run around without a diaper on. Robert REALLY enjoyed that. A very confused Tiger followed our naked brother every where looking for oatmeal. Our evening progressed normally from there & Robert didn't pee on anything while he was diaperless.

After the usual bedtime routine my parents breathed a sigh of relief when Robert drifted off to sleep. Unfortunately this is not the end of our story. Robert woke up several times through out the night crying & wanting to be held. By morning his bottom had blisters & he was puking. Mommy made a desperate call to the pediatrician. Thankfully they had an opening that morning so it was off to NNMC. Once they arrived, the doctor went down the list of usual rash culprits & agreed with my parents that none of them applied here. After a thorough exam the doctor said that the rash is the beginning of an illness. Apparently Robert's ears, nose & throat are swollen too. My parents were instructed to keep an eye on Bobby for the next few days, monitor his temperature & keep him hydrated.

Today the rash is starting to go away but Bobby is progressively getting crankier & very clingy. So far there has not been any fever. So now we wait & see what happens. We will keep our fingers crossed & follow doctors orders.
