The 2 Year Check Up

Sparky: I am in a little bit of shock that it is Feb 2010 already but I guess it is just another example of how time flies by. Last week Bobby saw his doctor for a well child visit to check out his growth & development. The regular stats are 29.6 lbs & 34 inches tall. Yes, it seems Bobby has lost some weight from being sick. He is still in the lower percentile for his height but that will probably never change. I mean neither of my parents are tall so he doesn't have a lot to work with as far as genetics go. Guess there is a reason there are sayings like good things come in small packages :-)

My parents & the doctor discussed several things to see if our little man was on the right path. As usual he did a great job. Bobby now says over 50 words & several sentences like "Up please" & "I love you (too)". Like most kids his age our brother's eating habits are hit & miss. Some days he will eat anything you put in front of him then other days he won't touch something because it looks or feels funny. Bobby is developing a real knack for make believe & pretend play. It is always fun to watch what some ordinary object will become with his talent. Although lots of things become cars & he takes his "babies" aka some of his stuffed animals for rides. On the potty training front we have hit a lull but that is typical for this age as well. My parents aren't worried about it & want Robert to feel comfortable about going potty instead of traumatized Realistically he won't start preschool for a little over a year from now so we have plenty of time to work on it. On the activity checklist he definitely excelled. Bobby can easily run & jump he also has started balancing on 1 foot for several seconds. He also loves to throw balls, color with crayons, markers, paint, etc. & do puzzles. His hand-eye coordination is vastly improving.

I know we say this a lot but I don't really think you can say it too much. Bobby, we are so proud of all of your achievements. We all love you so much! You are becoming such a wonderful little boy... well outside of those temper tantrums ;-)
