Got Snow?

Tiger: When my parents went to bed last night the weather people had said the snow would begin by 12 am. Well we woke up to nada, zilch, zip, zero snow. There isn't even anything on the car. Mommy checked the weather again when she got up & it said it is snowing right now... Ummm is it invisible cause we don't even have rain falling from the sky. The weather also states that our original 3 inches is no more & it will be snowing today through Saturday... I guess we will wait & see.

This whole snowy confusion brings up some interesting thoughts. How do you get to be a meteorologist? I know you go to school & get a degree but what does the requirements list include? The art of confusion 101? Making your Magic 8 Ball your career wing man? Clouds- How to make them be what you want? Seriously it is the one career out there that you can be wrong 75% of the time & still have a job, benefits, & TV air time. I guess if you can live with the general public being upset with you all of the time it must be a cake job ;-)

It makes us wonder what makes you (our blog reader) do what you do as a "career"? By career we mean what is your job whether you receive a monetary paycheck or hugs, kisses, &/or smiles as payment. Does it make you happy? Do you feel that people don't get the reality of it based on the outward appearance? We know meteorologist do tons of science & research but we still have to give them grief because we expect them to tell us what mother nature has planned for us each day. It isn't really personal at least on our part.

If you ask our mommy what she does for a living she will tell you that she is a circus ringleader F/T & a massage therapist in her spare time. Sounds glamorous right? It is better received than saying that she is a stay at home mommy (SAHM) who does massage on the weekends. Many people seem to hear SAHM & think that requires a degree in soap opera viewing 101 & the art of eating bon bons. Let me tell you our mommy doesn't watch TV very much & I have never seen a bon bon. Being a SAHM actually requires tons of "experience" that you learn in a baptism of fire. With a 2 year on the loose & us dogs always running a muck mommy has had to morph from being a maid to a preschool teacher to a nurse to a vet to a dog groomer to a chef to a best friend & counselor to a loving wife in the blink of an eye. Plus the needs change every day & seem to include more things than 1 little blog post can ever explain. Either way it is a very fulfilling & rewarding career that our mommy is thankful to get an opportunity to experience even if people think she sits on her butt doing nothing. We know better & that is what matters :-)

As far as her career in massage goes it is very different from her F/T gig. There is a order & simplicity to it that she doesn't get being a SAHM. Numerous clients have asked our mommy why she chose her massage career. The truth is our Uncle Paul made mommy want to become a massage therapist. Not by anything he ever said but by his very existence. Uncle Paul was born very premature & mommy used to go with Nana to the NICU. She got a first hand education on the importance of touch in human survival. She watched Uncle Paul thrive & grow through the magic of compassionate touch. Other babies there didn't thrive & it was heartbreaking to watch. They didn't seem to have others touching them outside of vitals & medical checks. It made mommy want to do something that brings peace of body, mind & soul to others & help them thrive just like Uncle Paul did. Now mommy has a job that makes people happy & does give them a sense of that peace. It is very satisfying & that makes mommy better at her job. I will say that if you have never had a massage than you need to get out there & experience 1 or 2 or 50. We are lucky enough to get massages from mommy regularly & it makes us all very happy campers :-)
