Happy Birthday Daddy!!

Robert: Today is daddy's birthday. Like every other big event that falls on a weekend we celebrated it during the week... in this case Friday. With all of the snow, mommy's second Tysabri infusion & all of daddy's time off Mommy & I had a lot to do Friday morning. We went to buy daddy's presents & his cake first thing. Keep in mind that my daddy doesn't usually want us to do anything special for his birthday, but Thursday night he asked for an ice cream birthday cake. Mommy was ecstatic that daddy actually wanted us to do something for his birthday. Mommy's family has always made birthdays a big deal & it drove mommy crazy complying with daddy's do nothing different requests over years past.

When we went out shopping mommy put my big boy skills to the test. I got to pick out daddy's card, candles, & wrapping paper. I was soooo excited to make these choices & I did pretty amazing if I do say so myself. Although all of that great decision making was quickly forgotten once we went to Cold Stone to get daddy's cake. I was so excited to get the cake that I chanted cake the entire time we were in the store. I did melt down rather quickly when we got home & mommy put the cake in the freezer. I wanted that cake now! So the fits began going something like this: screams of "Caaaaaaakkkee!!! Miiiiiiine! Caaaaaaaakkkee!!!", epileptic snake like temper tantrums, & much tugging on the freezer door. Mommy outsmarted me by putting a big box on top of our chest freezer lid so I wasn't able to get it open.

Now that you have a nice visual of most of mommy's day we will move onto the rest of Friday. Once daddy's came home I got to give him his presents & card. I love the fact that daddy always lets me help him open his presents. Daddy was very happy with his gifts & told me he was proud of me for all of my good decision making. After gifts it was time for dinner: Meatloaf, homemade cheddar mashed potatoes, & honey glazed carrots. It was yummy, but nothing compared to the sugary goodness called dessert. Mommy put the candles in daddy's cake then we sang "Happy Birthday" before daddy blew out his candles. Daddy blew out 3 of them & saved one for me to blow out. Let me tell you that was super cool. I had a blast eating my first piece of ice cream cake. We did try to have family movie night after dinner but I was way too wound up to sit still. I ran around the house like someone who is on fire. It lasted all of 20 minutes then I crawled into my bed & passed out. It was awesome!!!

Mommy says we will go out to eat tonight after she gets off of work since today is really daddy's big day. I can't wait to see if there will be more cake :-)
