Goodbye 2010

Robert: 2010 has been a crazy ride filled with many ups, downs & many twists & turns. We started the year with Mommy changing MS meds because of how many lesions she developed in the first year of diagnosis. We decided it was worth the risk of the horrid brain infection that is now at a 1000:1 ratio. So far it has been a great decision. It has made mommy stronger & drastically reduced her episodes. We learned this past summer that mommy had her first MRI without any new lesions.

We said goodbye to our neighbors as they left the military but in their place we got fabulous new neighbors. We were very fortunate that they have turned out to be such awesome friends. We play with them all of the time, have enjoyed summer BBQs, & many adventures over the past 7 months.

The beginning of summer was a very hard time for our family. we had to say goodbye to our precious Sparky. The pain of his loss still hits us every day. He was such a magical spirit & our home will never be the same without him.

At the end of the summer we had a crazy adventure to take Rayne home to her mother. That was one heck of a drive. It took a lot out of us & it was a very emotional time for us as well. To make this event more bittersweet we found out we had been approved to bring Trixie into our home. We were barely home 24 hours before we got our little puppy.

Shortly after our return from Georgia mommy had a major relapse & had to spend a few days in the hospital. It was a very hard reminder that mommy is not always able to the things she thinks she can. It was hard on my whole family to be apart from mommy.

This fall brought my first time trick or treating as well as mommy taking an indefinite leave of absence from her job. It has been very rough being a single income family but we are slowly adjusting to it. We also suffered the loss of my Auntie Janice. That was a very hard time & a giant lesson about loss & how special people touch our lives.

As the holiday season kicked of we hosted our first Thanksgiving which that was tons of fun. Unfortunately that weekend mommy had another attack. This one lasted for 2 weeks & we learned how to do steroid infusions in our house with the help of home nurses.

As winter came through I got to learn all about Christmas. I loved doing all of the crafts & decorating that was associated with the holiday. Some of the best parts was learning about Santa Claus & watching all of the holiday movies with my family.... and of course the presents :-)

In conclusion we are grateful for the good times & thankful to have survived the rough patches. We can only hope that 2011 will bring less pain & heartache & be filled with love & laughter. Either way we have proven time & time again that we have enough strength, support & stubbornness to survive the dark tunnels & make it to the light. We hope everyone in bloggyland has a great new year :-)
