O Christmas Tree

Tiger: Tuesday brought many things including our Christmas tree. Mommy was still not back to normal.

We got a surprise visit from someone we will call AA just to keep ourselves out of too much trouble. We aren't trying to be overly cryptic & you may be wondering why mention it at all. Well the thing is we all care about someone that has an issue with some sort of addiction. It is an unfortunate part of people having free will. AA may have finally had their lowest point. We are sad that it is something that caused so much pain but there is a reason they are called lowest points. They are never small issues. AA came over very distraught about an alcohol induced blackout that resulted in no memory of how they got home nor what occurred just the simple fact of awakening with the taste of blood & tobacco in their mouth. AA doesn't smoke & has a very violent temper when drinking so we understood this concern. After several hour of panic & friends from the previous night finally returning calls AA learned it wasn't as bad as originally feared but still had said & done things to betray a friend. As a result, all of this guilt & fear has made AA realize there is a problem with the alcohol. We can only hope this is the last time & a real change will happen. The problem is no matter how much you care about someone, no matter how much you wish you could protect them from harm, when you care about a person with an addiction you have to stand back & watch them make bad choices & not enable them. Doing anything that seems to be your first instinct will only prolong the dark path & no matter what, it hurts to watch them do these things to themselves. My family has tried to be a sounding board but we have stayed as far away from rescue as possible & let me say it just sucks. I want to shack AA until they understand how foolish all of this is & how dangerous this path will get if this really isn't the last time. We have to just trust the universe to unfold how it is meant to & try to stay sane from the side lines.

Now onto the good stuff. When daddy returned home from work he had our Christmas tree with him. Bobby was sleeping so my parents got our tree all setup in its tree stand before waking him. My little buddy was so excited to see a real tree. He was overjoyed to find out my parents were going to let him help decorate it. In the end our tree made not be Martha Stewart quality but it was designed with toddler love so that makes it 110% better. Whether the ornament was personally placed by Bobby or put in a spot at his direction this tree was his creation. In my opinion that makes it the best Christmas tree ever decorated.

Of course our little man is milking this for all it is worth. At bedtime it isn't the typical kid asking for a glass of water but Bobby begging to take one last look at the Christmas tree before going to sleep. He also has no problem demanding the lights be turned on if he notices the tree has been unplugged. The things this kid comes up with are so cute yet totally mind blowing. Although we will save that for another post :-)
