MS Update

Robert: Well mommy's not too major MS symptoms turned out to be taken pretty serious by Dr. Hegde. Don't get me wrong it isn't that Mommy was trying to blow off her MS stuff, but more the fact it was awkward situation for mommy to fess up to. She really didn't feel that her symptoms this time were that serious either since there wasn't any paralysis. Mommy had started with a few bladder control issues & fading vision in her right eye. I think you can understand why some of this was hard for mommy to say out loud to anyone. Well by the end of last weekend mommy had completely lost the vision in her right eye & was walking into things as well as beginning to feel the need to buy adult diapers. It was a very low point for mommy so after daddy's persistent requests to have mommy contact the doctor she finally agreed to make the call first thing Monday morning. Mommy is under going steroid infusions again this week. She has already had 2 & will have the last IV treatment on Friday morning. So far so good. Mommy did have a reaction to the first treatment that got her sent to the ER. It was mommy's fault though... well sort of. It turns out mommy was dehydrated & hadn't eaten close enough to the treatment time. This resulted in her blood sugar plummeting & her blood pressure to sky rocket simultaneously. Needless to say it was lot of fun... NOT.

Anyhoo her treatments are being done at Bethesda this time instead of Walter Reed. The nurse at Bethesda lets daddy & I stay with mommy during her treatments so it isn't as stressful on all of us. We have been having to get up super early in the morning though to make the appointment times with traffic. I tend to fall asleep on the car ride in & stay awake until the car ride home. It has also been hard on the pups to have mommy gone for so long every day. I guess our pups don't like schedule changes either. Thank fully there is only 1 treatment left then mommy will do the oral steroids for a week. Mommy now has 75% pf her vision back in the right eye & only a little bit of bladder issues at the moment so it seems that the treatments are working. We are keeping our fingers crossed :-)
