Sparky: Have you ever noticed that as certain things happen they causes a mass reaction? Let me explain.

If you aren't a dog owner you probably think it is very gross to watch a dog poop. Yet if you own a dog you know that no matter how hard you try you can't look away. It's the same thing with foreign poop objects. Any one that doesn't have a pet probably is horrified by the rest of us as we sit there & try to figure out what is the "insert your own thing" in our canine companion's crap. Every dog owner does this stuff & we don't think twice about it.

Next on our agenda is the zany world of child slumber. We all have heard "let sleeping dogs lie" or "don't wake a sleeping baby". Well no one tells you that as a parent you will always be doing this because kids never sleep at convenient times. It would be fabulous if the world came to a screeching halt because your tot is snoozing, but that would make life too easy. Instead parents are filled with the constant scenarios of: baby fell asleep in the car 2 minutes before we pulled into the driveway, child refuses nap & throws fit for the majority of nap time & passes out right when it is necessary to go back out & it is not allowed to wait (picking up another child from school), etc. The other thing that I will never understand is how a child will collapse in any position when they need to sleep. It is like a toy that the battery dies as it is in mid motion. My brother can sleep in these weird contortionist-like positions when he is super tired but will not sleep in a nice, comfy looking setting. It is quite odd yet all kids seem to fight naps just to become adults that pine for nap time.

For our last point we shall touch on the male obsession with all things gadget-like. Apparently this is programed in male DNA. As soon as my brother was mobile every gadget in our house seemed to be sending out a homing beacon to attract him. Many of us are used to the adult version of this... Men are so easily distracted by anything that a) has an electrical frequency b) a high price tag c) to the rest of the world seems to do the same thing as all of the other gadgets d) any combination of the above. It was quite a shock to see that this starts at such a young age. It is the same with the male TV trance. My brother will actually complain if his view of the TV is obstructed. keep in mind he is only 1! Daddy does the same thing & it is amusing to see the male "weave, wobble, & bob" as they try to keep eye contact with the screen when anything gets in their vision path.
