This Week's Adventures

Robert: The last 2 weeks have been filled with ups & downs for everyone in our house. We mentioned last week that we were saving our bad news until after the holidays. So we are going to start off with old news that hasn't been talked about yet. Mommy had to go see her new neurologist right before Christmas. Ironically it wasn't for any major issues. It was just that time for a regular visit. The doctor went over some of mommy's test results from this year. You see normally mommy should be getting MRIs once a year for maintenance purposes, but you may recall mommy has had some major episodes this year. This means she has had more MRIs & the doctors have gotten to see new lesions developing faster than they usually would have otherwise. The doctor's concern is because mommy has been on her meds for a year now & it should be slowing &/or stopping the growth of lesions. Well the last MRI shows several new lesions on the brain making 6 new lesions in under a year. For those of you keeping track that makes the new lesion total 15-> 4 on the spine & 11 on the brain. the doctors are having mommy stop her betaseron injections today & she will start a new medicine next month. This medicine will require mommy to go to the hospital every 28 days for infusions. Luckily it is done out patient but mommy is super nervous about taking this new medicine. It is new on the market (only 2 years of data) & it is pretty potent. We will have to see how she reacts.

In other weekly news:

  • Daddy has had a holiday work schedule & has only had to go in for 4 hrs on Mondays & Tuesdays.
  • My cousin Rayne is in Maryland for the holidays. She isn't spending a lot of time with us because mommy has been having sporadic MS issues.
  • Rayne was able to come over for a sleepover Monday night & Tuesday night.
  • Mommy had a "minor" MS flare up on Tuesday so we enjoyed a lazy pj day with Rayne
  • Wednesday daddy joined mommy, Rayne & I for some shopping & a visit to the train garden
  • I learned to associate the word choo choo with the trains plus my parents got a good laugh at my attempts to say choo choo (I say doo doo). I didn't want to leave the train garden so I threw a fit screaming "NOOOOO! DOO DOO! DOO DOO"
  • We met Nana & the kids at the train garden then had lunch with everyone
  • Today is another lazy day but it will be the whole family
