Robert: I did really well with my toddler bed for the first week. Then I became super brave. I don't see this to be the problem that my parents do. As you may recall I know how to work the baby gate to my room. It is really only there to keep Tiger from munching on my toys when he is anxious & to prevent any visits from the Tinkle Fairy AKA Sparky (that dog has to pee on everything!). Well I have decided that if I don't want to be in my bed then I shouldn't have to be. My parents let this slide for a few times since I stayed in my room. In typical toddler fashion I have upped the stakes by leaving my room whenever it pleases me like when it is bedtime & I am not sleepy or mommy's favorite when I hear daddy leave for work. Last night I proved how smart I am. My parents pulled my bedroom door all of the way shut to keep me in my room. I woke up after a brief catnap around 9:50, proceeded to make them aware of the fact that I can open my bedroom door all on my own & went to lay on the couch with daddy. Needless to say my parents were a little miffed. I was allowed to stay up with daddy for a little bit & I passed out on the couch around 11 pm. Tonight they put some sort of medieval cage like device on my door knob. I am not very happy about this. I have no clue how to make it work & I haven't had enough time with it to observe how my parents do it. All I have to say is this SUCKS!
PS- When my mommy went to bed Saturday night she opened my bedroom door back up so my parents would hear if I was having bad dreams. I fully repaid mommy for the cage thing on my door. I awoke around 3:40 am Sunday morning & proceeded to turn on the TV. It scared the stuffing out of my mommy & she came running. My exhausted parents caved in & let me sleep in the big bed after that :-)
