Flight Fiasco

Robert: As you know we were supposed to leave early Monday morning for Seattle to spend the holidays with daddy's family. We arrived at the airport by 4 am & had to stand in a long line to check our bag. After that was taken care of we had to wait in another long line to get through security. All the while I was getting numerous compliments on how cute I was. Mommy decided to dress me in a Tiger costume for our travels. I know this might sound a little silly, but mommy thought that people will remember a kid dressed in a bright costume better than regular clothes. Mommy was proven to be very correct, but I am jumping ahead. Once we were through the craziness of security we headed to our gate to wait for our plane. Mommy ran to get us some food while we waited. As soon as we started to eat in the gate waiting area a gentleman from the baggage check counter came looking for us. He was there to inform us that the Seattle airport was shut down & no flights would be allowed to land there. He suggested we try to book for another day or else we would be stuck in Cleveland. It was after this that we met 2 of the nicest people employed by an airline. They worked diligently for 2 more hours trying to find a way for us to get into Seattle as soon as possible. They even tried to send us to Vancouver but we didn't have passports to got to Canada. They were able to get us flight to Seattle on the morning of the 24th flying in 1st class the whole way. We were very happy to have a solution to our problem & we headed home to wait for our new flight arraignments.

We didn't do much with the extra time at home before our new travel arrangements. We basically spent our time resting & hanging out as a family. Then mommy & daddy pulled another all-nighter so we could leave for the airport at 2 am on the 24th. We were lucky because all of our flights went to the southern part of the country to get to Seattle this time. We flew from Baltimore to Houston then had an hour layover until our flight to Salt Lake City. Now any of you that have flown on a flight with a layover know that every airport is different & very rarely are your connecting flights close together. With our hour layover that meant we were running through the Houston airport to our next terminal in order catch our flight. After all of that madness we landed in Salt Lake City with a 2 hour layover. We were able to catch our breath a little in the smaller airport. My parents were ecstatic to see smoking hut inside the airport. They were getting grumpy going without smoking since we parked the car in Baltimore. After the fixed their nicotine levels (they do individual trips so I am always safe from the smoke) we got a pizza from California Pizza Company to share before our final flight to Seattle. We had a short flight into Seattle which made us all very happy. By the time we had landed we had spend 9 hours on airplanes & a total of 16 hours since we parked our car. We were all very happy to see Uncle Dave & know our travels had finally ended. Much to our dismay we quickly learned that our luggage didn't make it out of Salt Lake City. This caused mommy to have a minor panic attack since my car seat was part of the checked luggage. The smart people at the airport were prepared for this with several loaner car seats for all size kids.

Once we were on our way to my Great Nana's house we all could let out a collective sigh of relief. We did make a quick stop to this store called Fred Meyer's. It is like Kohl's with a grocery store inside. We picked up a few things to get us by until we got our suitcase. Once we got to the house I finally got to meet my Great Nana. I really liked meeting her & Uncle Dave. I quickly warmed up to Uncle Dave & we have become best buddies. My Great Nana on the other hand has been an interesting situation. She has a cold & won't pick me up or hold me out of fear that she will get me sick. This has made me a little frustrated because I continually crawl over to her & request to be picked up, but it never seems to work. Great Nana keeps telling me that she should be better in a few day & will spend lots of time holding me. In the meantime I have been having tons of fun exploring the huge house :-)
