Robert: Boy was it a busy yet productive day on Monday. After mommy called the vet they told her to bring Sparky in at 9:40 (roughly 1 hour from the phone call). My family LOVES our vet & have thought about kidnapping him when we PCS sometime in the future. It is rare to find a vet that truly sees you pets as fur babies, your non-birth children, essential members of your family, etc. Well basically Sparky is being treated for Kennel cough AKA puppy bronchitis. Dr. Holden didn't come to this decision lightly either. With Tiger being one crazy shredder he was concerned that Sparky may have swallowed something either toxic or a chocking hazard. After once of those scenes that you wish you could block from all memory his hand reemerged from inside Sparky & informed mommy that nothings seems to be wedged in his windpipe. For you adults out there it was one of those moments in life where mommy wanted to be sick, daddy would have been proud, & we were reassured that Sparky will never be bulimic. After a few shots (a cough suppressant & mega dose of antibiotics) mommy & Sparky were on their way home with a few meds & a bland diet for my puppers to eat.
Now we must go back to before the vet visit before we can continue with our story. As mommy was getting me ready to go down to Ms. Delaina's during Sparky's vet vist Dr. Hegde called mommy. After a brief conversation he asked mommy what the closest ERs were. She told him HoCo General & AA County Medical Center. After few choice sounds he asked mommy if she felt up to driving to a military ER. Mommy agreed & immediately called daddy at work. Much to mommy's surprise daddy told mommy he would be right home but he wouldn't make it in time to take Sparky to the vet's. So mommy took me to Ms. Delaina's for the 20 minute gap between parental units & ran out the door with Sparky. Once they returned Daddy & I piled into the car & went off to Walter Reed's ER so we could see Dr. Hegde. My parents were very surprised at the great treatment mommy got from the ER staff (we always go to Bethesda's ER) & they were very happy to have Dr. Hegde come down from Neurology to see mommy. He decided to put mommy on a high dose of IV steroids via outpatient for 3 days & then mommy will take pills to slowly drop the dosage over the next 10 days. About 30 minutes into the treatment mommy was already starting to feel better. When it was done & the muscles in her chest released. She did feel like she lost a round in fight club but with in a few hours that went away too. Soon we had our precious mommy back in working order & my family was super excited. I am so glad I decided to hope for a positive outcome to all of the weekend problems. Like mommy says "The Universe gives you what you put out into it." :-)
