48 Hours Later

Tiger: We have hit the 2 day mark since daddy left for the airport. Things have been pretty slow here as a result. Reality set in for Robert & I last night around 5 pm when daddy never came home from work. We were both very sad & confused. I followed Robert around the house as he frantically searched for daddy. Mommy kept trying to tell us that daddy is away on a trip for work but we ignored her to continue our search. When we came up empty handed we both decided we needed to cling to mommy & make sure she doesn't go away too.

Sparky & I have been overly hyper. We miss daddy playing with us when he comes home from work. We have been lucky that Robert has been very attentive to us. He has spent a lot of time the last couple of days playing catch & chase with us. He has also been extra affectionate. I am very happy about this because I am an little lap dog trapped in a big body. I love cuddling, snuggling, & any other type of love I can get. Every normal day I cling to daddy the second he comes home to let him know I missed him & that he owes me extra love for the time he was away at work. By the way, daddy, the meter is ticking & you will get a very big bill from me when you get back.

Sparky is more of a mama's boy. You can tell he is sad that daddy isn't here but he is still functioning. It's when ever mommy leaves is that Sparky will start a hunger strike & start acting weird. I wish I could be more like Sparky right now but not having daddy here has taken a lot of the sparkle out of my day.

Mommy has been sick. Don't worry it is just a cold not something serious like the swine stuff. Today she had more energy & took Robert outside to play. Mommy got all of the Halloween decorations taken down & even raked the leaves in the front yard. We had A LOT of them. Mommy filled one of the big trash cans full of leaves & had to stop. She was worried about not having anywhere to put the regular trash. As promised Sparky & I have been keeping daddy's side of the bed warm. We may be doing too good of a job based on the tiny ball mommy curled into last night to make sure we didn't kick her out of the bed.


Robert: Don't forget to tell everyone that daddy called today & that I got to talk on the speaker phone like a big boy!!


Tiger: OOOPS! I almost forgot. Daddy got to call home today. He told mommy that he is in Iraq now & may be able to call once a week. It was really good to hear daddy's voice. We were glad to hear that he is ok. Well he is still a little jet lagged but with an 8 hr time difference that is to be expected :-)
