Sparky: We had yet another sleepless night in our house last night. This time bad dreams had little to do with it. Robert started spiking a fever last night. He also was very congested & grumpy. This combo is never good for my brother. Bobby always repeats the same thing when he gets chest & nasal congestion. He has issues sleeping because he is stuffed up. It wakes him up constantly through out the night, then he gets upset, starts crying, then begins coughing followed by vomiting. This was our night over & over & over again. It was like some bad blooper reel stuck on replay.
Mommy put a call into Bethesda first thing in the morning. She was informed that Robert could not be seen until 2:30 this afternoon. Mommy wasn't sure if she wanted to wait that long but she took the appointment anyway. She did call back several times to see if there were any cancellations. When venting her frustration to Ms. Delania mommy was reminded that she can ask for a referral for urgent care. Mommy got right back on the phone to the Bethesda call center & made her request. She was informed that a nurse would call back in the next 24 hrs to evaluate the need for the referral. We still haven't heard anything from this nurse but mommy took Bobby to Bethesda for his afternoon appointment. She felt it was important that he be seen soon rather than later.
Once at the doctors Bobby was is in full on temper tantrum, don't touch me, get away from me mode. This made the exam super fun... not. Anyone that has kids knows the heartbreak of having to fully restrain your screaming child so a stranger can poke & prod them. The end result is Robert has the flu. They did not give an official diagnosis of Swine flu but they are treating him like it is the swine. Bobby is now on Tamiflu & is not allowed near others until he has been on the medicine for 3 full days. Yup that means Friday afternoon. It is going to be a very loooong week for mommy. Tiger & I are super excited to know that we will have mommy & Bobby here all to ourselves, but mommy & Bobby are always going somewhere to do something fun. In the end these little piggies will be suffering from cabin fever.
