Sparky: After doing some research & talking to a few people mommy realized today may not be the last day of isolation for Robert. If the typical time period for isolation involving swine flu is 5-7 days then we will be stuck here until Monday. A missed phone call on Thursday confirmed this, but I am getting ahead of myself. Anyone that knows my mommy is aware that she is a planner & tends to err on the side of paranoia. This situation is no different. Mommy will not be working this weekend (I will get into that in more detail shortly) & she made arrangements for us to be fully supplied to survive the full isolation period. Lets face it most people aren't prepared for a week long isolation in their own home.
Ms. Rachel came by yesterday for a few hours to watch all of us. This allowed mommy to run out & get some much needed supplies like dog food (quite possibly the most important thing on the list in my opinion). Don't worry folks Ms. Rachel isn't insane. She was already exposed to the swine stuff & NO Bobby didn't get it from her (our money is on the airport). We are very lucky to add Ms. Rachel to our group of friends. She has helped us out a lot over the past few weeks. Anyway we did our best to behave while mommy was gone. For mommy it was a much needed break from all of us. Although she did feel lost while she was out. It was just too quiet.
Once mommy came home it was time to put Robert down for a nap & unload the bags from the stores. This is where I must throw mommy under the bus. Sorry mommy. I still love you but did you really need to buy stuff to wrap Christmas presents? I know you are tempted to give every gift to daddy the second he gets off the plane but do you really think wrapping all of the presents 40+ days prior to the holiday will actually stop you?
Moving on. Once mommy was settled & everything was quiet she realized there was a voice mail. It was from Bethesda saying that Bobby's culture results were inconclusive, but continue him on the Tamiflu through for 5 days & keep him isolated until he is finished the Tamiflu. Yup good thing mommy took off work.
I do however have a small vent about mommy's boss. Mommy called her boss & explained what was happening with my brother. Her boss immediately cut mommy off & said "I didn't think there was such a thing as treatment for swine flu." Mommy explained the Tamiflu & isolation part again. Her boss responded by wanting to know how high Robert's fevers have been. Mommy told her that they have been spiking to 101.7. To which crazy boss lady says "That isn't serious for a kid. I don't understand why you need to stay home with him. Don't you have child care for that reason?" Sometimes I really wonder about people. Who would willingly leave their sick kid in the care of other especially when it is something highly contagious? Not to mention mommy works in a day spa as a massage therapist. Lots of people come through there to relax not get exposed to swine flu. I think the customers will be grateful mommy is keeping her butt home with Bobby! Sometimes I think this lady has more plastic than brains. Ugh!
